Why Join Us?

There are many reasons to join Westberries Hockey Club:

Family Friendly Club

Regular Social Events

Westberries welcomes players of all ages and skill levels. Currently we have over 80 members ranging in age from 12 to 50+, and ranging in skill level from serious to social. We run four league teams, which compete in the regional Central division and Brunel Divisions 1 & 3.

Regular social events are organized throughout the hockey season in conjunction with Westbury and United Banks Men’s Hockey Club. These range from booze cruises to black tie dinners.

Professional Coaching Sessions

Westbury & UB Mens HC

Professional Coaching sessions are run throughout the season on Wednesday nights. Sessions are run by two qualified England Hockey Coaches, and a specialist Goal Keeping Coach.
The whole club train on the same night and at the same time. Training has been very popular with an average of 30+ girls turning up to each training session during the season.

Westberries are informally (but proudly!) associated with the Westbury men's club. We hold numerous joint social events during the hockey season, and also take part in several mixed matches a year.  At Westbury they run 7 league teams, so from young or old, serious player or social drinker, you are guaranteed to find something that suits your skills. They train on the same night and at the same location as us.

Junior Training and Vets Side

Free Coaching Guides

For the younger juniors we have training sessions that run on Sunday mornings during the winter. They are mixed training sessions and are run in conjunction with our associated men’s club Westbury United Banks.
Westberries also field a Veterans team who compete in friendly games and tournaments during the season.

At the start of each season, each Westberries member gets three coaching guides:

Club Guide

Contains the clubs and teams season goals, clubs pre match warm up routine, training session format, and coaching principles.

Fitness Guide

Contains sections on how to achieve a high level of hockey fitness, example training programs, how to test your fitness level, and pre game nutritional advice

Short Corners Guide

The clubs short corner routines are mapped out in detail with diagrams.

Free Coaching Supplements

Free Fitness Session Plans

Coaching supplements become available during the season to complement training sessions. These supplements are all uploaded into the member’s area when they become available.

Pre season fitness plans are uploaded into the members area at the start of each season. These can be downloaded and used by all Westberries members.
